The Drustrup seal

On the farm 'Mellgaard' in Ejersted a Drustrup seal has existed for many years. In 1977 when visiting the family in USA Axel Drustrup gave it to Thomas Grebe Drustrup. Thomas Grebe Drustrup had a replica made and gave the original to Anna Drustrup Olesen, when visiting Denmark years later. His wish was, that the family seal should be given to Axel's oldest son Niels Drustrup, who now has it.

Based on genealogical information and the design of the seal Scandinavian Heraldic Society has estimated the seal to have been owned by Søren Nielsen of the Drustrup family.
The initials SNS means Søren NielsSon
The letter D stands for Drustrup and the weapons is supposed to show, he has been a soldier.

Søren Nielsen, who also used the name Søren Nielsen Graven (Juli 27th. 1766-1854). October 24th. 1794 he was married to Maren Nielsdatter, and June 26th. 1803 they bought the farm Drustrup from Søren's brother Jens Nielsen Graven. Amongst other children they also had the son Niels Sørensen November 6th. 1803. He inheritated the farm and was later married to Johanne Thomasdatter. One of their sons, Jens Jørgen Nielsen, was married to Maren Poulsen Myrtue and made Drustrup the official family name.

The seal is kept in a wooden box with both a print on paper and in real sealwax.

The photo was taken, when the seal was shown to the participants of the Danish reunion March 2004.
